Needs Statement

Physicians, faculty, anesthesiologists, fellows, residents and medical students at Baylor College of Medicine need to be regularly updated with new advances and guidelines in anesthesiology to increase clinical knowledge, and implement them in clinical practice to improve competence and enhance the quality of patient care and outcomes.

Objectives

At the conclusion of the session, the participants should be able to:

  • Describe the pathophysiology of traumatic brain injury.
  • Summarize the various factors affecting intracranial pressure and cerebral blood flow.
  • Develop a plan to manage a patient with traumatic brain injury based on recent guidelines.
