Early Detection and Treatment of Pulmonary Fibrosis

This Department of Medicine Grand Rounds session is part of the Physician-Scientist Series. In this presentation, Dr. Ivan Rosas discusses his experience as a physician-scientist and his work in researching and treating interstitial lung disease. He shares a case that illustrates what he finds fascinating about clinical research and encourages learners to consider a path as a physician scientist.

Needs Statement

Faculty and trainees within the Department of Medicine who are involved in the care of patients need to be regularly updated with the recent advances and guidelines in the fields of internal medicine and quality improvement to increase clinical knowledge, and to implement the advances and guidelines in clinical practice to enhance the quality of patient care and outcomes.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  • Describe populations at risk for pulmonary fibrosis (PF).
  • Define strategies to detect and prevent PF.
  • Determine future approaches to drug discovery for PF.
