Needs Statement
Physicians, psychologists, residents, fellows, physician assistants, nurses, and social workers in a variety of disciplines need to be regularly updated on strategies for navigating suicidal grief, posttraumatic growth, and adverse clinical outcomes. The series aims to increase knowledge of the learners in these topic areas, and to enhance the quality of care and improve outcomes.
Objectives
At the conclusion of the session, the participants should be able to:
- Distinguish the five types of elder abuse.
- Identify risk factors and warning signs of elder abuse.
- Identify and screen older adults at greatest risk for self-neglect.
- Examine ethical and legal aspects of interventions in elder abuse.
- Recognize the professional responsibility of clinicians to report elder abuse and neglect.
- Utilize the mechanisms established to report elder abuse and neglect.
