Professional Statement
Bac T. Nguyen, M.D., is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology in the Cullen Eye Institute at Baylor College of Medicine and is a board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Nguyen specializes in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma, as well as cataract surgery and micro invasive glaucoma surgery. Dr. Nguyen graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles and received his medical degree from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. While in medical school, he was awarded grants for his research at the Hamilton Glaucoma Center, Shiley Eye Institute. He went on to complete his ophthalmology residency at Baylor College of Medicine. After residency, he completed his glaucoma fellowship training at Stanford University School of Medicine, Byers Eye Institute in Palo Alto, CA. While in Palo Alto, Dr. Nguyen was also appointed as a Clinical Instructor by the Stanford University School of Medicine, where he was involved in medical education. As a faculty member of the Cullen Eye Institute at Baylor College of Medicine, Dr, Nguyen is actively interested in patient care, clinical research and medical education. He has won awards for his teaching, and he is the site principal investigator for a clinical trial investing a new drug delivery system for glaucoma. Dr. Nguyen also serves as the Deputy Chief of Service for Ophthalmology at Ben Taub General Hospital.
